Practical help, local support, and welcoming guidance for families, volunteers, and our community.
At Seren’s Wish Charity, we believe support should feel friendly, simple, and easy to access. Everything on this page is designed to help you find the right information at the right time — without judgement, without jargon, and with a focus on community.
Support for Families & Young People
Families often tell us that the hardest part of getting help is knowing where to start. That’s why we bring together friendly, practical information about local support in one place. Gloucestershire Family Hubs offer welcoming spaces where parents and carers can access advice, baby groups, early years support, and guidance around childcare, routines, and wellbeing. Alongside this, the Glosfamilies Directory provides a simple way to explore local services, SEND support, and activities across the county — all in one easy-to-navigate hub.
We also share step‑by‑step guides for everyday challenges, written in clear, accessible language. Whether you’re looking for help with school costs, navigating additional needs support, or understanding what to do if money is tight, our guides are designed to take the pressure off. They’re practical, strengths‑based, and shaped by lived experience — so families feel supported, not overwhelmed.
To make things even easier, we offer downloadable tools you can use at home. These include budgeting sheets, “Getting to know me” profiles for children, calm‑down plans, and strengths-based planning templates. They’re simple, printable, and designed to help families feel more organised and confident. Everything is created with warmth and care, so you can use them in a way that suits your family’s rhythm.
Volunteer Resources
Our volunteers are at the heart of Seren’s Wish Charity, and we want you to feel confident, supported, and valued from the moment you join us. Our volunteer guides include a friendly handbook, quick “What to do if…” safeguarding sheets, and simple session checklists to help you feel prepared. We keep everything clear and jargon‑free, so you always know what to expect and where to turn for help.
We also offer a range of free training opportunities, including online safeguarding modules, inclusive play training, and basic first aid. These resources help volunteers build their confidence and skills, especially when supporting children with additional needs. We believe in learning together, celebrating strengths, and making sure everyone feels equipped to create safe, welcoming spaces.
To support your role day‑to‑day, we provide easy‑to‑use forms and templates, such as volunteer sign‑up forms, incident/concern forms, and activity risk assessment sheets. These tools keep things running smoothly and ensure we maintain safe, consistent practice across all our projects. They’re designed to be quick, practical, and accessible — because volunteering should feel joyful, not complicated.
📄 Policies & Procedures
At Seren’s Wish Charity, our policies and procedures are designed to keep everyone safe, supported, and welcomed. They explain how we protect children and vulnerable adults, how we handle personal information, and how we create safe environments for activities and events. We follow clear safeguarding steps, safer recruitment practices, and simple reporting procedures so volunteers always know what to do if they’re worried about a child or situation. We also take privacy seriously, collecting only the information we genuinely need and storing it securely in line with UK GDPR.
We aim to make every experience with us positive, so we have straightforward processes for giving feedback or raising a concern. Whether someone wants to share a suggestion, make a complaint, or ask a question, we respond with kindness, transparency, and fairness. Our health and safety procedures help us run safe, well‑managed sessions, from risk assessments to first aid arrangements, while our equality and inclusion commitments ensure every child, family, and volunteer feels valued and supported. Volunteers are central to our work, so we provide clear guidance, training, and expectations to help them feel confident in their roles.
We also manage our finances responsibly, using simple but robust controls to ensure donations are spent wisely and transparently. Our Code of Conduct brings all of this together by setting out the respectful, child‑centred behaviours we expect from everyone involved in our charity. Full copies of any of our policies and procedures can be obtained by sending a stamped addressed envelope (SAE) to: Seren’s Wish Charity, 12 Rowanfield Exchange, Devon Avenue, Cheltenham, GL51 8AU.
